Each year Audio Visual Integrators and Consultants from around Australia and New Zealand submit their world class projects to the Audio Visual Industry Awards (AVIA). The winner of this year's education category was the University of Sydney's X-Lab, which caters for up to 240 students at workstations that can be arbitrarily assigned to any one of eight class groups. This project was also a finalist in the AMX 2014 Best Project Awards.
This extremely innovative project allows multiple practical science classes to be taught simultaneous in the same space. It is in the Charles Perkins Centres, the Charles Perkins Centre features both traditional and collaborative learning spaces as well as dry and wet labs, faculty meeting and training rooms, research facilities and a mini 8 bed hospital and edu-gym.
The project is one of the best installations in the world, and AV Magazine's Derek Powell offers comprehensive detail of the project in his Lab Report.
